Mengo is a neighborhood located in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. It is home to the historical Mengo Palace, which was the residence of the Kabaka (King) of Buganda, one of the largest kingdoms in Uganda. Mengo also houses the Kasubi Tombs, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that contains the burial grounds of four Buganda kings. The neighborhood is predominantly residential, with a mix of old colonial-style homes and modern apartments. The area is served by various hospitals, schools, and places of worship, including the Mengo Hospital and Namirembe Cathedral. Mengo is also known for its lively markets, such as Nakivubo Market, which sells a variety of fresh produce and goods.
